Companies at NEPCON JAPAN
NEPCON gathers technology and product suppliers, R&D, and industrial experts from around the world.
A number of companies around the world displayed their latest technologies and the products at NEPCON 2018. The followings companies shared their views on what latest technologies and the products are showcased with them and also discussed the market scenario with the editor of ELE Times, India:
Asahi Kasei Corporation displays first concept car
The strength of the Asahi Kasei Group is having a broad range of technologies for functional fibers, performance plastics, synthetic rubber, and semiconductor devices, all of which contribute to automotive safety, comfort, and environmental performance. Asahi Kasei’s concept car “AKXY” showcases a variety of Asahi Kasei’s unique automotive products and technologies.
Asahi Kasei showcased at world’s largest technology exhibition “Automotive world 2018” for automotive engineers that gather the latest technology and products from all over the world.
Asahi Kasei Proposes next-generation automobile, the first concept car “AKXY” equipped with automotive products on display. One can experience the fiber products that provide comfortable interior space, CO2 sensor technology, driver monitoring technology to support safe and secure driving, and more. In addition, one can see the latest technologies and products such as high heat resistant resin for weight reduction of automobiles, high flame-retardant and high heat-resistant foamed resin, the world’s first infrared transparent sheets, and engine sound creator technology on EV.
Solutions for ADAS and Autonomous Driving from Valens
Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) is one of the key technologies that helps monitor conditions of cars, capture surrounding situations, detect dangers and hazards and send warnings to make drivers stay alert before accidents happen. At NEPCON JAPAN 2018, Valens demonstrate the solutions for autonomous driving and ADAS.
Valens, an Israeli designer and manufacturer of automotive chips, presents its HDBaseT solution at the exhibition. It is an in-vehicle technology featuring high performance, low latency and flexible architectures.
Valens displayed multi-Gig bandwidth for the transmission of audio and video data, USB, controls up to 15m/50ft over a single unshielded twisted pair cable. HDBaseT Automotive simplifies in-vehicle connectivity by optimizing the infrastructure necessary. HDBaseT Automotive supports multi streaming, daisy-chaining and networking, saving on ECUs and cabling, for an overall lower total cost of system.
- PCIe over HDBaseT: Qualcomm and Valens joint demo showing SoC connectivity to an SSD memory module using PCIe over HDBaseT Automotive. HDBaseT is able to extend PCIe for up to 15m over a simple unshielded twisted pair cable, a first in the industry. PCIe extension brings more flexibility as to where to place ECUs in the car, and saves on memory (SSDs) cards.
- HDBaseT Switch demo: showing switching/duplication/aggregation/separation of uncompressed video streams and USB streams, for better networking architecture and topology.
- Displays in daisy-chain topology: supporting video multi-streams over a single channel. Daisy-chaining simplifies display topology by enabling one cable to connect all sources and all devices, saving on space and weight, and without affecting performance.
- STM and Valens joint demo of an advanced Infotainment and Telematics system, with multi-Gig audio, video and USB transmission, and supporting smart phone transmission.
- Valens and Innoviz joint demo of a LiDAR running via 1GE over HDBaseT, supporting the most advanced ADAS systems available today.
Autotalk displays products for autonomous vehicles
CRATON2, specifically designed for autonomous vehicles, is the most advanced and secure V2X communication solution. It integrates a mobility optimized IEEE802.11p modem, ultra-low-latency V2X Hardware Security Module (eHSM), powerful hardware acceleration engines for line-rate message verification, single/dual ARM Cortex A7 processor capable of running full V2X middleware and applications and optional secure CAN MCU. In addition, CRATON2 supports IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac to enable external WiFi for supplementary value-added services. Due to its high level of integration, CRATON2 is cost optimized, as it reduces development, integration and certification effort and ensures the quickest time-to-market.
