Quectel Wireless Solutions Co., Ltd., the leading global supplier of cellular and GNSS modules, has successfully conducted a series of live tests of its 5G NR modules over customer devices in China, North America and Australia. The move represents Quectel’s leadership in offering reliable 5G connections based on Qualcomm SDX55 modem to businesses and organizations.
The company achieved the data call on live 5G NR Sub-6GHz bands in late October and began to support customers in 5G field tests since early November. In less than one month, Quectel teamed up with global customers and completed multiple live tests over different types of 5G devices including CPE and Always Connected PC (ACPC).
In collaboration with Qualcomm, Sichuan Changhong Network Technologies and China Mobile Communications Group (CMCC), Quectel completed the 5G NR data call over a RG500Q-powered CPE on CMCC’s 5G live network in November 14-16 at China Mobile Global Partners Conference 2019, which is one of the industry’s first such tests based on Qualcomm SDX55 modem.
Additionally, at a two-day expo in Hefei during November 25-26, Quectel worked with LCFC (Hefei) Electronics Technology, the developer of a world-famous laptop manufacturer, and had multiple tests of a laptop on China Mobile Communications Group’s live 5G NR network. Random tests showed that the laptop delivered a downlink data rate of 649Mbps via Quectel RM500Q module.
RG500Q and RM500Q are multi-mode Sub-6GHz modules, capable of SA and NSA operation modes. The products support worldwide 5G and LTE-A coverage and make ideal solutions for enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) and fixed wireless access (FWA) applications such as CPE, gateways, ACPC as well as live streaming of ultra-high definition videos.
Engineering samples of RG500Q and RM500Q are currently available, with commercial shipment following in Q1 2020.
