    New advancements in encapsulation resins at India Electronics Week

    Building on Electrolube’s vast growth in India, the electro-chemicals specialist will launch their newest advancements in encapsulation resins, developed specifically for the Indian market, on stand 1-32 at India’s Electronics Week, which takes place at the KTPO Trade Center in Bengalaru on 13-15 February 2020.

    The pioneering new resins have been formulated at the company’s manufacturing facility in Bangalore, using locally sourced materials to ensure highly competitive pricing and delivery within impressive short lead times. Electrolube’s Indian team leveraged group technical support and key local knowledge to create a series of cost-effective new resins with higher specifications than existing products on the market. The new encapsulants have been produced to meet customers’ requirements in terms of performance, budgetary restraints and production methodologies, and also carry a full seal of approval from the UK parent company for quality and innovation compliant with internationally recognised standards.

    Electrolube’s resins offer high performance alternatives to existing resin products from brands such as Dow Corning and Elantas, not only in terms of performance but also cost-effectiveness. The ER6010 resin has been developed in accordance with customer demands for an X-ray shielding epoxy resin suitable for the encapsulation of ‘Mission’ critical applications, which require complete protection and concealment of PCB and components. For example, some Defence or Military based projects are enfolded in high levels of confidentiality and the designs of the PCBs must be protected at all cost. Electrolube has worked closely with these customers and understands the requirement for a highly specialised resin that protects the security of designs and circuits, even under the medium of X-ray. ER6010 is a two part thermally conductive system that exhibits good flow characteristics, facilitating the potting of even the most complex and difficult geometries. It also has a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +160oC and a thermal conductivity of 0.53 W/m.K. The ER6010 epoxy offers good chemical resistance and a high level of protection in a range of different environments. The cure time is 24 hours, at 23oC but this can be accelerated with heat. Following encapsulation of a circuit with ER6010, the circuit components and design features are completely protected allowing complete confidentiality.

    Electrolube’s new silicone encapsulation resins include SC4004 and SC4003, which are highly suited for automotive and power supply applications. SC4004, an alternative solution to Dow Corning’s CN-8760 and has a high level of thermal conductivity (1.0 W/m.K), enabling efficient heat dissipation and offering a wide temperature range – up to +2200C for short excursions of up to 30 minutes. SC4003 has a temperature range of -60 to +2000C (up to +2200C for short excursions of up to 30 minutes) and meets UL94 V-0. Both silicone products feature user friendly 1:1 ratios with the added benefit of fast cure mechanisms at room temperature and are very competitively priced, considering the market’s increasing silicone prices.

    The silicone modified epoxy resin ER6007 is a repairable black resin mixed in a simple 1:1 ratio. The special characteristics of this encapsulation compound determine its suitability for LED drivers, power surge protection devices and power supplies. The temperature range is -40 to +1800C (up to +2000C for short excursions of up to 30 minutes) and the thermal conductivity level is 0.66 W/m.K.

    Electrolube’s two-part, thermally conductive epoxy encapsulation resins, ER6003 and ER6004, are ideally suited to applications for rectifier regulators, CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition), electronic fuel injector circuit potting encapsulation, motor winding applications, cable gland potting and encapsulation of LED driver units. Good flow characteristics also enable effective potting of difficult and complex geometries. ER6003, an effective alternative to Shimokote 9, offers a broad temperature range from -40 to +1600C (up to +1800C for short excursions of up to 30 minutes) and ER6004 ranges from -40 to +1800C (up to +2000C for short excursions of up to 30 minutes). ER6004, a viable alternative to CN-8760 and Shimokote 11, is also unique within the family group of epoxy resins as it cures as a softer resin than usual. This feature allows the unit to be reworked or repaired if required, while still offering the same levels of protection.
