Ljungström has been awarded a significant contract for the supply of air preheaters and gas-gas heaters to the Indian market. The contract by Doosan Power Systems India (DPSI) is for the supply and delivery of eight Ljungström Air Preheaters and four Ljungström Gas-Gas Heaters for the Obra-C coal-fired electrical power plant in Sonebhadra district, and for the Jawaharpur coal-fired electrical power plant in Etah district, both in Uttar Pradesh.
This contract is for the two supercritical power plants, totaling 2,640 MW, in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The four 660 MW boilers at the Obra-C and Jawaharpur plants will receive the latest Ljungström air preheater and gas-gas heater technology, totaling over 9,000 tonnes of advanced heat exchanger equipment.
“This is a major win for our team in India,” said Ljungström President, Dave Breckinridge. “With this contract, Ljungström continues to demonstrate its market-leading technologies, while supporting the region’s electricity and environmental demands.”
“This win allows us to further cement our position in the Indian market and it reinforces our key objective – to fully appreciate our clients’ requirements and provide them with world-class service and solutions,” said Ljungström India Managing Director, Pankaj Chopra.
Project execution will be led by Ljungström’s India operations, and critical elements of the equipment will be manufactured in Ljungström’s Chennai factory.
