IEEMA partners with Power Sector Skill Council to train budding electricians

In order to train budding electricians in the Country, IEEMA under its CSR activities has partnered with Power Sector Skill Council to create maintenance technicians working in industrial plants and commercial buildings.

IEEMA has signed an MOU with Power Sector Skill Council (PSSC) for this initiative. The agreement was signed by Mr Sunil Misra, Director General, IEEMA and Mr. Vinod Behari, CEO, PSSC as part of IEEMA’s CSR activity. An amount of Rs 21 lakh will be invested in the skill development activities in ‘Electrician Domestic Solutions’ domain ensuring that more than 160 trainees will get trained. The skill development training will be conducted by Orion Edutech (an authorized training partner of PSSC) at their Mandir Marg center in New Delhi.

Mr Harish Agarwal, President, IEEMA said, “It is a great day for our industry. We have signed an MoU with Power Sector Skill Council for co-operation. Skill development is a gap which if filled up will have an extremely positive impact on the quality and reliability of industry’s delivery.

Mr RK Chugh, Vice President, IEEMA said, “Skill building in the electrical industry will play an important role towards bringing uniform, adequate installation and maintenance practices. The professional training by PSSC will help these technicians to get detailed knowledge about troubleshooting, testing and fixing already installed, improperly functioning, electrical systems”

Mr Sunil Misra, Director General, IEEMA said, “Electricians, and overhead line workers are at the top of the list of professionals who are most exposed to electrical hazards. Thus it is necessary to create a team of trained professional for safety-related work and practices to protect themselves from the electrical hazards associated with their jobs or tasks. IEEMA alongwith PSSC has undertaken this initiative and will create a skilled man force to perform these tasks”.

Mr Vinod Bihari, CEO, PSSC articulated, “This MoU with IEEMA constitutes a major milestone for Power Sector Skill Council.  It would enable us raise the training and certification of Electricians to a significant level in response to their ever growing demand. The various schemes of Government of India such as DDUGJY, Saubhagya etc that have enabled nearly 100% village and household electrification in recent times has led to huge demand for such skills. This association will enable us exploit this opportunity in the larger national interest of creating gainful employment opportunities.”
